Our son has Autism and two years ago, he woke one morning with a condition called Sixth cranial nerve palsy. It is a condition similar to Bells Palsy but his eyes were paralyzed into his nose. Well long story short, he had to patch each eye for so many hours every day. So we dressed him as a pirate and everyone at the fest really played him into Character. They let him play pirates with them, they all wanted to know where they could get a cool patch. It made my son feel so good and excepted, cause he was different. Going to the Georgia Rens Fest, well it doesn’t matter how different you are, You are excepted, and welcomed… We enjoy going every year now. Our son wakes us up on the weekends, EARLY, Just to make sure we get there time they open and we stay til they close.. Thank You Georgia Rens Fest for excepting us… Can’t wait for this weekend.

My favorite set of memories are from my first trip to Renn Fest when I was in middle school. I couldn’t believe what an amazing place we had been transported to! We took a very memorable photo with some of the wenches and seeing the Birds of Prey show kindled my interest in falconry. I’ve now been to the festival more times that I can count but it never gets “old!” (unintentional pun)

One of my favorite memories at the Georgia Ren Faire was last year at the hypnotist show. My mother became so hypnotized she did not remember anything that happened. At first she was just following along, after a few minutes she was under the hypnotist’s control. Every situation he described she truly believed she was experiencing. Even after the show, when he released the hypnotized people she was still hypnotized. He had release her twice before she was back to normal. It was hilarious and we got in on video. Can’t wait for this years fair!

My favorite was last year when my husband and step kids and I went and I decided to splurge at the fortune teller’s booth. We had been trying to have a baby for 2 years and it didn’t look like it was going to happen. The lady told me that she saw I was wanting one really bad and that I was not pregnant at the time, by next Summer I would be pleasantly surprised. I’m 6 months 2 week pregnant right now, Jake is due in July

My favorite memory is sitting in the henna tent with the wind blowing the wonderful scent of henna and eucalyptus around me as I just relax and listen to the sounds of the festival surround me.

My Dad took me to the Renaissance Festival in 2001. I was only 11. My favorite part of the day there was the rocking horse. I rode it twice! I would have spent the entire day on it but decided to let others ride, too. My Dad and I bonded so much that day. The scariest part for me was petting the ostrich. I still don’t trust this bird. This year, I will be going to the festival with my boyfriend. It will be our third year going together! Whatever happened to the rocking horse?

My favorite memory of the GaRenFest is last year. It was the first year I was able to bring my 6 year old son to the grounds. He was totally awe struck by everyone! The costumes, the language, the shows, the shops. Being a pirate fan, he was amazed by the sword/ship shop. He spent days calling me “my lady.” Just thinking about taking him again makes me smile. My favorite memory is of he and I skipping out of the faire grounds, looking forward to next year.
